Whichever the problem at everyone’s side, the Virgin Media has always been aware of this red button not working problem and has always been calming their users and customers down that it will soon be resolved.
One of their responses is that, they are aware of the issue with the red button on Sky sport and they (virgin media) are currently working with sky to get the issue resolved.

December 17, 2022 @ 9:00pm: The sky sport red button users are complaining about some technical issues with their services. Some of the users do complain about the absence of sound or the sound keeps going off and that it is glitching out.
As at December 26, 2022 @5:58: Sky Sport users still complained that the red button services are not working on their side.
But I believe that the Virgin Media and the Sky Sport must have been finding a solution to this.
