If we are to ask people why they would like to hide their photos and apps on their phones, several reasons will definitely surface. Such as the parents that might want to check through their children’s phones and might like to hide some of their private pictures. People also save and guard their private information like bank verification numbers (BVN), bank document, property documents in soft copy, and some backup passwords. Some also hide photos and apps for security reasons, just to be free from policemen and other security personnel in case they are on patrol and want to check on passengers’ phones, the phone users might have some photos and apps to be hidden from the security personnel. These are some of the reasons why people hide photos and apps on their android phones.

How to hide Applications on Android phones

It is very obvious that there are varieties and different products of phones when talking about android phones. This makes the method of hiding apps on them different. And most of these phones have a chance of hiding apps on them even without downloading any other apps. Below is a simple and step-by-step process of doing so on each phone.

  1. Samsung: Samsung has a hidden space for apps and pictures. Users only need to long-press on the home screen in order to access more options on the phone. After that, tap on the “Home screen settings” and then to Hide apps. You can then select the apps that you wish to hide away from your home screen or app tray. i.e., Home screen settings – Hide apps.

And in case you wish to remove an app of your choice from the hidden apps, then tap on the minus (-) sign very close to the specific app. Then tap on “Done to apply the latest changes”.

  1. OnePlus: For those using OnePlus smartphones, you just need to slide to the right side of the Drawer to enter the Hidden Space.  In case you are not using Drawer, slide with two fingers outwards on the home screen, just to enter into the same space. After that, you can then tap on the plus (+) icon as your phone will immediately display all the apps on your phone. Then select the app you wish to hide and tap on the tick mark icon. Then close the Hidden Space.

You can also unhide apps that you already hide through the same process above. You can also set a password to the Hidden Space in case you think people can access your hidden apps. Once you passworded it, then nobody will be able to access your hidden apps.

  1. Xiaomi Mi, Redmi, Poco: To hide apps, you will have to go to the settings section on your Android phone and tap on Apps followed by App Lock (i.e., Apps – App Lock). From here, you will find a Hidden apps tab. Then click on the apps of your choice you wish to hide. And for security purposes, you can also password the hidden apps. You can also follow the same process to unhide the apps.
  2. Realme: The process of hiding apps is quite different on Realme phones. To do this in an easy way, go to Settings then to Security, then to App Encryption, then to Enter a privacy passcode, then to choose the apps you want to hide, then to Enable hide home screen icon i.e., (Settings – Security – App Encryption – Enter a privacy code – Choose the apps you want to hide – Enable Hide Home Screen Icon). You will be required to set the Access Number for the app after that. Immediately after that, you will receive a message that “Hide Home Screen Icons, Don’t Display in Recent Task, and Don’t Display Notification.” You can then dial the access number on the dial pad if you want to access the already hidden apps.

How to hide videos and photos on Android phones

You can hide videos/photos from your gallery, incase you don’t want anyone to check your private images and video.

Some Android phones have the option to hide videos and photos. E.g.

On OnePlus phones, users look for the “Hide” option whenever they open an image or video from their galaxy app. With this, tap on the three-dotted button, and the app will display the “Hide” features. And when you scroll down in the gallery app. You will be able to locate the Hidden Collection Section, where you can find all your hidden data.

You can also use the App Lock features that the Realme Android phone offers.
