You need to download an app from the Google play store on your phone if you want to set video as your wallpaper. Several apps can be downloaded to carry out this function. Search for “video wallpaper” on the Google play store to see the list /number of apps that can do this. The app is free to use, in order to turn your wallpaper or background into a colorful video within seconds.

Below are the steps to carry this out:

Download Video Live Wallpaper from the Google Play store if you have not done that before.
Start the Video Live Wallpaper and tap “Choose Video” from the main screen.
Then select your preferred video from the list of videos from your phone gallery.
The control at the bottom of the screen is used to select the portion/fraction of the video you want to use as wallpaper if not all of the whole video. You can control the start and the end of the video part to be selected
And use the “play” button which is square-like to preview/play the selected part.
To re-select, the video part, click on the “Settings” icon at the top right of the screen and tap “Scale fit”. And return back to the preview to recheck.
When the part selected is okay by you, then tap on the “Set wallpaper” located at the bottom of the screen. Then select further from the menu if you want to set the video on the Home screen/locker screen/as wallpaper on the Home screen.

How setting video wallpaper is done on Samsung Galaxy phones

Setting video as the wallpaper on Samsung is done easily without downloading any other app, apart from the in-built app that came with the phone.

This is only applicable and done on the lock screen.

Below are the steps for carrying out the above task:

Run the Gallery app and choose a video of your choice to be set as wallpaper.
Tap on the small three dots located at the top right side of the screen.
Then tap on “Set as wallpaper” from the options provided.
The maximum is 15 seconds, anything other than that will be telling you to reduce the size of the video.
Then draw (drag) on the video edit box till the video portion has been selected, then tap on “Done”. Then this inbuilt app will make a new and short copy of the portion of the video and save it in your gallery.
And finally, tap on “Set on Lockn screen”.

The advantage is that setting a video as your wallpaper makes your phone look very attractive to you yourself and any other person that tries to use your phone.

DEMERITS

Below is the disadvantage of setting a video as the wallpaper on your phone:

The sole disadvantage is that this video will always be the cause of why your battery will always run down very fast always i.e., the lifetime of your battery will always be short.
